Investigations

There are currently two officers assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division. A Lieutenant oversees the Criminal Investigations Division’s and two investigators who are assigned to general crimes investigations.


The Investigations Division has the ability to conduct polygraph examinations not only for the Perryville Police Department, but has assisted many outside agencies with in Missouri and Illinois. The role of the Investigations Division is to support the other divisions within the department by responding to and processing crime scenes and by conducting follow-up investigations of reported criminal activity. Detectives routinely review preliminary investigative reports, which are prepared by the patrol officers within the Police Department. Based on these reports, they will interview victims, witnesses, and suspects as needed.


Detectives within the Investigations Division have received specialized training in the area of interviewing, statement analysis, search and seizure of evidence, crime scene processing, interpersonal communications and many other specialized training's.
