Learn to Swim, Private Lessons

Classes meet Monday through Thursday.

Parent & Child Aquatics:
Helps young children (ages 6 - 24 months) become comfortable in and around the water so they are ready to learn to swim. It is not designed to teach children to become good swimmers or even to survive in the water on their own. Parent or legal guardian must be in the water with the child at all times.
Level 1 (ages 4-6 years):
Orients children to the aquatic environment and helps them gain basic aquatic skill, comfort in and around the water and basic propulsive skills. This is a 30 minute class.
Level 1 (ages 7-13):
Introduction to Water Skills: Helps participants feel comfortable in the water. Skills taught include entering and exiting the water, blowing bubbles, retrieve submerged objects, front and back glides and floats, tread water, kicking and arm actions. This is a 45 minute class.
Level 2 (must successfully completed level 1 or receive prior approval from instructor):
Fundamental Aquatic Skills: Gives participants success in the aquatic environment with fundamental skills. Builds on Level 1 with the addition of the following: bobbing, opening eyes under water, changing direction of travel while swimming, tread water using arm and leg actions; combined arm and leg action on front and back. This is a 45 minute class.
Level 3 (must successfully completed level 2 or receive prior approval from instructor):
Stroke Development: Builds on the skills in Level 2 through the additional guided practice in deeper water. Participants will learn how to enter the water by jumping from the side, headfirst entries from the side in sitting and kneeling positions, bobbing while moving toward safety, rotary breathing, survival float back float and flutter, scissor, dolphin and breaststroke kick. This is a 45 minute class.
Level 4 (must successfully completed level 3 or receive prior approval from instructor):
Builds upon previous levels and introduces feet first surface dive, head first entry, butterfly, and elementary backstroke. This is a 45 minute class.
Level 5 (available upon request):
Builds upon previous levels and introduces shallow angle dive, front flip turn, tuck and pike surface dive and sculling. This is a 45 minute class.
Level 6 (available upon request):
Improves all aspects of swimming learned in previous levels by introducing fitness swimming to the swimmer. Students will be taught how to use equipment properly and how to set up an aquatic exercise program. This is a 45 minute class.
Diving (must successfully completed level 4 or receive prior approval from instructor):Students learn to dive safely off the 1 meter and 3 meter boards. This is a 45 minute class.
